Respawn Entertainment Unveils Apex Legends Season 28 Breach Details
Developer Respawn Entertainment has announced details of Apex Legends’ next season update. Season 28, which launches on February 10, will bring a new map element, balance changes for Heroes and weapons, and a return to drop ship format for ranked games.
Hardlight Meshes
Perhaps the biggest change in Apex Legends season 28 is the addition of hardlight meshes. These meshes are, to most people, windows. They can be smashed using melee, weapons, ordnance, and other forms of damage.
They can also be repaired and reinforced by Controller Legends like Catalyst and Caustic.
The new meshes will be added to all maps rotating in this season, and, considering they really are just windows, they have the potential to bring some quite significant changes to team tactics, both for defenders and attackers.
Untouched, the meshes have 200 hit points, but this increases to 1,250 once they’ve been reinforced.
Where meshes differ slightly from traditional windows is in the fact that EMPs do critical damage against the hardlight.
Legend Balancing And Other Improvements
A handful of Legends are also going to enjoy some balancing in Apex Legends Season 28. Fuse will see his ultimate ability, The Motherload, improved to include a series of explosives that are dropped to clear out entrenched positions. He is also getting new Knuckle Jumper, Reignition, and Pyro Techniques abilities.
Recon Legend Bloodhound is getting a shorter cooldown for the Beast of the Hunt ultimate ability as well as improvements to his tactical scan. Raven’s Flight increases the range of the Tracker passive ability.
Catalyst will not only be able to repair and reinforce the new hardened mesh, but will be getting improvements of her own. Piercing Spikes is being improved, with greater distance and improved speed. Dark Veil can also be deployed horizontally, and she will gain Hidden Spikes and Sole Piercer abilities.
Several weapons will see changes. The popular G7 marksman rifle will be found in care packages. Other marksman weapons will be nerfed. Several shotguns will get improvements – Dual Shell for the Mastiff, Disruptor Rounds for the Peacekeeper, and Double Tap for the EVA-8.
Finally, ranked playlists will revert to a dropship format – the ALGS POI-style spawning has been abandoned.
