Battlefield Redsec Esports To Offer $1.3m Prize Pool, Starts This Month

EA’s Warzone competitor, Battlefield Redsec, has endured a pretty torrid time since its December 2025 launch. It was riddled with bugs, missed major features like solo play, and paid Battlefield players complained of effectively being forced to play Redsec to enjoy Battlefield progression.

Primarily as a result of the game crashes, EA was forced to cancel its planned esports tournaments. The studio cancelled its Open Series and Elite Series competitions. In the proceeding months, very little was spoken about the competitions.

Nine months later, EA has announced the upcoming launch of both series. The company has posted a meaty blog post highlighting details of everything from Cash Cups to the Open and Elite Series.

Cash Cups Continue

Cash Cups will continue in season 4. These weekly competitions will run from September 19 to October 10. There’s a total of $150,000 of prizes ($50,000 per region) on the line and anyone eligible to play the game in APAC, EMEA, and the Americas can enter.

Open Series

Starting October 24, up to 384 teams in each of the 3 regions will be able to compete in the new Open Series. The top 4 teams from each event qualify for the Open Series Final, along with the highest-ranked Open Series leaderboard teams. The best performing teams will win places in the Elite Series.

Elite Series

The Elite Series is the big one, at least in terms of prize money. It has an impressive $1,338,000 prize pool, shared equally across the three regions. The Elite Series will run from December 4 to January 16.

Does Redsec Have An Esports Future?

EA does have history of successful esports games with Apex Legends and EA Sports FC. The offering of a generous prize pool, and open competitions, may help promote the competitive ecosystem. And it is bringing some much-needed improvements to the game.

But, it’s fair to say the game’s bugged launch and the stuttering esports start has alienated some players. What’s more, while Redsec’s forerunner, Warzone, does have a competitive framework, even being featured in the Esports World Cup, it isn’t that popular. It peaked at around 270,000 viewers during EWC 2026 and only managed to drag an average of 125,000 viewers across the competition.
