Digimon Story: Time Stranger Update Brings Graphics Mode And Fixes Bugs

It’s a busy week for Bandai Namco and Digimon fans. Ahead of a Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 launch, the devs have announced a Digimon Story: Time Stranger update for Xbox, PlayStation, and PC players.

The update adds Graphics Mode for console players. The Switch 2 launch will also include Graphics Mode. The update also includes a few extra, smaller features, as well as game fixes.

Features Added

First and foremost, the update brings Graphics Mode, which is already available on the Steam version of the game, to Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5. It will also launch with the Switch 2 game. However, it isn’t available Series S, or the original Switch. Graphics Mode lets players choose between 4K, 30FPS Quality Mode, or 1080p 60FPS Performance Mode.

Photo Mode will also be available during field exploration, which I’m sure will be useful to somebody. And Terriermon can now Mode Change to Terriermon Assistant.

Bugs Fixed

In terms of fixes, the latest update remedies one potentially progression breaking bug that occurs in The God of Speed’s Wish. Previously, some players were missing out on scripted events that were essential to move the mission forward. There were workarounds provided by Reddit users, but these didn’t work for everyone, and it was pretty infuriating.

Bandai Namco has fixed the issues now, and players who were stuck should be good to progress following the update.

Other bugs, including an issue where the training timer sticks after reaching 999 hours and 59 minutes in a save file, have also been fixed.

You can read the full patch notes here.

Switch Launch

The update and fixes were launched the day before the game came to Switch and Switch 2 and ahead of the launch of Digimon UP, which is the franchise’s first real, global mobile launch.

Digimon New Century is a popular official mobile RPG but is only available to the Chinese market. The Digimon Card Game Teaching App is a companion app that teaches the basic rules of the Digimon TCG. Otherwise, other mobile games are fan made and not official.
